Our Story, Purpose & People
How a young engineering graduate left his corporate career to teach slum children under a tree—and built an educational movement.
He had the degree, the job and the offer letter.
Anil Kumar finished his B.Tech in village Kirdhan, Fatehabad, and took an engineering job. Then he kept passing the same children — working at brick kilns, begging at traffic signals, none of them in school.
In 2018, he left his engineering career. He gathered the dropout children under an open tree, found them uniforms and books, and began teaching. There was no furniture and no funding. There was a tree.

सहभोज (Sahbhoj) – Dining Together as One Family
At Paryatan Foundation, we believe equality is not just taught in textbooks—it is practiced every day on the floor. Under our सहभोज (Sahbhoj) tradition, the children bring home-cooked food from their own kitchens, and founder Anil Kasana, trustees, teachers, and university volunteers do the same from theirs. Everyone sits together on the green mat in one circle and shares what each home has brought — no meal is bought or funded.
Sharing home-cooked rotis, sabzi, sweets, and laughter together dismantles all socio-economic barriers, builds mutual respect, and instills a deep sense of family: "हम सब एक परिवार हैं".
